Volunteer Opportunity: Peer Support Specialist / Advocate

Are you passionate about inclusion, lived experience, and creating real community impact?
We’re seeking a Peer Support Specialist/Advocate to join our team on a volunteer basis, two days per week. This unique opportunity is ideal for someone with lived experience—whether as a person with disability, a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, or a parent/carer of someone within these communities—who wants to actively shape person-centred services from the ground up.
What You’ll Do:
Co-design programs and service models in collaboration with staff and leadership.
Provide insightful feedback grounded in lived experience to help shape meaningful, accessible services.
Join internal working groups to review documents, policies, and procedures through an inclusivity lens.
Advocate for equity, accessibility, and best practice in everything we do.
Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing client outcomes.
Help establish and facilitate peer-led groups that provide recommendations to our leadership team.
Represent Chosen Family at community events, forums, and online platforms to amplify our visibility and mission.
Engage with clients and families to gather feedback and data that drives service development.
Requirements
About You:
You have lived experience as a person with disability, an LGBTQIA+ community member, or a carer/parent of someone with lived experience.
You are passionate about peer-led advocacy, systemic change, and inclusive design.
You’re a creative thinker who enjoys collaborating on program and policy development.
You value diverse voices and are committed to fostering community-led solutions.
You are a clear communicator, open collaborator, and a proud advocate for inclusion.
