Job Description

KuCare is seeking compassionate, reliable, and experienced Support Workers to join a small team providing individualized support to a participant in Fortitude Valley.

You will work as part of a consistent team of 2–3 Support Workers, providing person-centered support with daily routines, personal care, household activities, and wellbeing while promoting independence, dignity, and choice.

Current roster:

  • Monday–Friday: 7:30 am–11:30 am
  • Additional afternoon and weekend shifts may be available based on the participant's needs and team availability.
  • Free onsite parking

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing one-on-one personal and daily living support.
  • Following the participant's support plan, routines, and risk management strategies.
  • Supporting household activities and community participation.
  • Monitoring and reporting changes in wellbeing.
  • Maintaining accurate progress notes and documentation.
  • Working collaboratively with KuCare's Registered Nurses, Support Coordinator, family, and other Support Workers.
  • Maintaining professional boundaries, privacy, dignity, and confidentiality.

We are looking for dependable, patient, respectful, and team-oriented Support Workers who value consistency and person-centered care.

Requirements

Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience in disability, aged care, personal care, or community support.
  • Experience providing one-on-one support, preferably with complex or higher support needs.
  • Experience with personal care and daily living activities.
  • Ability to follow care plans, risk assessments, medication instructions, and support protocols.
  • Understanding of NDIS principles, participant rights, choice, dignity, and privacy.
  • Strong communication, documentation, and observation skills.
  • Ability to recognise and report changes in health or wellbeing.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with nurses, Support Coordinators, families, allied health professionals, and other Support Workers.
  • Understanding of safe manual handling, infection control, and professional boundaries.

Certifications

  • NDIS Worker Screening Check – Mandatory
  • NDIS Worker Orientation Module – Quality, Safety and You – Required
  • NDIS Code of Conduct training/acknowledgement – Required
  • Infection Prevention and Control Training – Required
  • National Police Check – Current
  • First Aid Certificate – Current
  • CPR Certificate – Current
  • Working with Children Check (Blue Card) – Mandatory where the role involves regulated child-related work; otherwise can be listed as required by KuCare policy
  • Certificate III in Individual Support (or equivalent) – Preferred/required depending on KuCare's role requirements
  • Manual Handling / Safe Transfers Training – Required if the participant's support needs involve transfers or mobility assistance
  • Medication Assistance / Medication Management Training – Required if medication support is part of the participant's plan and duties
  • Restrictive Practices training – Required only if applicable to the participant's Behavior Support Plan
  • Participant-specific training/competency – Required before undertaking any specialized support identified in Participant's care plan
