Insight Description

If your team still relies on PRODA to access NDIS systems, now is the time to make the switch.

The NDIS Commission is transitioning providers from PRODA to myID and Relationship Authorisation Manager (RAM), with the transition period scheduled to end on 30 September 2026. After the transition period, PRODA access to NDIS Commission portals will be removed.

The NDIS Commission is encouraging providers to set up myID and RAM now to minimise disruption later.

What’s actually changing?

PRODA is being replaced by myID, the Australian Government’s Digital ID app, together with RAM, which allows individuals to act on behalf of a business when their myID is linked to the business.

This change is about how you and your staff prove your identity and access NDIS Commission systems. It is part of stronger identity and access controls designed to help protect providers, participants and NDIS information.

What you need to set up

Your business will need the appropriate myID and RAM authorisations in place for anyone who needs access to NDIS Commission portals.

The first step is setting up myID, which is your personal Digital ID. You should use a personal email address that only you have access to when setting it up.

Set up your myID

Once myID is set up, the principal authority needs to link the business's ABN in RAM. A principal authority is generally someone responsible for the business, such as a sole trader, director or eligible individual associate.

For online business linking, the principal authority needs a Strong Digital ID. Once the business is linked, they can create authorisations for other staff who need to access NDIS Commission services.

Set up your business in RAM

Staff members who need access should also have their own myID with the required identity strength and must be authorised through RAM by the business.

What doesn’t change?

The move from PRODA to myID and RAM is an access and authorisation change. It does not replace the NDIS claiming process.

Your usual payment claiming processes and claim codes are not being changed as part of this identity transition.

The important thing is to make sure the people who need access to NDIS systems can authenticate successfully and have the correct business authorisation in place before PRODA access ends.

Common issues to watch for

A few things can cause delays during setup:

  • Identity documents may need to match your current legal name and details.
  • Identity verification can take additional time if documents cannot be verified.
  • For a Strong myID, photo verification is required. An Australian passport can be used for the photo verification process, while a Western Australian driver's licence can also be used where the relevant functionality is available.
  • Businesses with multiple directors or complex structures should make sure the correct person is set up as the principal authority.
  • Staff who have changed roles or left the organisation should be reviewed so access remains appropriate.
  • Staff should use their own myID and not share accounts or login details.

Check myID identity verification requirements

What to do before 30 September

  1. Set up myID for your principal authority and complete the required identity verification.
  2. Link your business ABN in RAM.
  3. Create the required RAM authorisations for staff who need NDIS Commission portal access.
  4. Make sure authorised staff have their own myID set up to the required identity strength.
  5. Review current staff access and remove authorisations that are no longer required.
  6. Test access well before 30 September rather than waiting until the final weeks.
  7. Check with your practice management or claiming software provider to see whether their system has any separate requirements relating to the broader PRODA transition.

Log in to NDIS Commission portals using myID

Don’t leave it until September

The 30 September 2026 deadline is approaching, and the NDIS Commission is encouraging providers to complete the transition early.

Getting your myID, RAM business link and staff authorisations sorted now gives your team time to resolve any identity or access issues before PRODA access is removed.
