Insight Description

Is an NDIS provider directory worth it? For many small to mid-sized providers, yes, but not as a quick lead tap. A listing builds visibility, credibility and search presence over months, and it works best when you keep your profile active. Judge it over a full quarter or more, not on the first month’s enquiries.

Key takeaways

  • A directory listing is an awareness and credibility investment first, and an enquiry channel second.
  • MySolas plans start at $49/month + GST when billed annually (or $69/month + GST month to month), with no extra fees to receive enquiries or leads. Paid ads, job boards and agencies typically cost far more.
  • Setup is quick, but an active profile outperforms a static one, because regular activity builds credibility and visibility.
  • Marketing compounds. A quiet first month doesn’t mean it isn’t working.
  • MySolas Match referrals are only available on the Accelerate and Gamechanger plans.

What do you actually get with a MySolas listing?

You get a profile that participants, families, carers and support coordinators can find when they search for supports. Every plan includes a verified provider profile, an enquiry inbox, and the ability to post events and share updates in Insights and Social. Higher plans add more service areas and more listings (accommodation, jobs and marketplace items). Our team of marketers and NDIS-experienced client success specialists is also there to help.

MySolas invests in its own marketing to attract people searching for NDIS supports, and members benefit from that. [PLACEHOLDER: monthly visitors, confirm from GA4] people visit the site each month, so you don’t have to build that audience alone.

MySolas doesn’t earn commission when participants choose a provider. You pay your subscription and nothing extra for enquiries. MySolas is an independent platform and isn’t endorsed by the NDIA.

How much does it cost compared with other ways to find participants?

MySolas plans are priced per month, plus GST:

PlanMonth to monthBilled annually (per month)Billed annually (total)
Explore$69$49$588
Accelerate$89$69$828
Gamechanger$149$129$1,548

Here’s how that compares with other common channels:

A few things to keep in mind when you read those numbers. The Google and Meta figures are US benchmarks in US dollars, so Australian costs will differ. A “lead” is an enquiry, not a participant, and plenty of enquiries don’t become clients. The ad costs also don’t include the time it takes to set up, run and fix campaigns.

Paid ads can be effective. The difference is that they usually stop working the moment you stop paying. A directory listing, a published article or a well-kept profile keeps working while you’re a member.

Why doesn’t a listing produce enquiries straight away?

Because most people don’t go from “never heard of you” to “enquiry” in one step. Marketing generally works in three stages:

  • Awareness: a participant, family member or support coordinator first sees your name and what you offer.
  • Consideration: they compare options, read your profile and see whether you suit their needs and location.
  • Decision: they get in touch, often after seeing you more than once.

A listing mostly works on the first two stages. Many people look, think and come back later, so an enquiry in week two is no better a measure of success than one in month three. Judging it only on first-month enquiries is like judging a new café by its first week of takings.

NDIS decisions are also big ones. Families often take their time, speak to a support coordinator, and compare several providers before they reach out.

What value do you get beyond direct enquiries?

Several things build up before the enquiries do:

  • Brand visibility. Participants and coordinators start to recognise your name, even if they don’t contact you immediately.
  • Search visibility (SEO). A complete, well-written profile gives search engines more to find and index, which supports people searching for supports in your area.
  • A chance to appear in AI answers (AEO). Tools like Google’s AI Overviews and Chat GPT draw on public web pages to answer questions. Clear, factual, regularly updated profiles and articles give you a chance of being included. There are no guarantees.
  • Credibility. A verified profile with up-to-date information, genuine photos and clear service descriptions helps people trust you before they ever speak to you.
  • Referrals and enquiries. These come too, but they’re the visible result of the groundwork above, not a separate thing.

How much time does it take?

Setting up your profile is a one-off job and it’s quick. What happens after that matters more.

A static listing only gets you so far. Providers who log in regularly, keep their details current, reply to enquiries promptly and use more of the platform tend to get the most from it, because activity builds credibility and visibility over time. Even 15 minutes a week to update a service, add an event or share a short update helps. Which MySolas features support your business goals?

Beyond the listing itself, depending on your plan, you can use MySolas to:

  • Fill vacancies. List SIL or SDA vacancies in accommodation listings, so people looking for housing can find you.
  • Promote events. Share open days, info sessions or community events.
  • Sell equipment. Use the marketplace to list items for sale, such as second-hand equipment.
  • Hire staff. Post jobs to attract support workers. You can also talk to MySolas Recruitment about permanent placements. Active MySolas members save a minimum of 10% on MySolas Recruitment placements.
  • Build trust through content. Publish stories, updates and news in Insights and Social, which also feed your search and AI visibility.
  • Receive MySolas Match referrals (Accelerate and Gamechanger plans only). MySolas Match is a free service for participants, where our team reviews a request and connects them with providers who suit their needs. Accelerate includes up to 3 requests a month and Gamechanger up to 6, subject to participant requirements.

One provider put it this way:

“I have more time to invest back into my business and our participants by only getting referrals that are already pretty much matched to us.” Jo, Director at BETTAbility

How long should you give a directory listing?

There’s no magic number, and we won’t promise one. As a practical suggestion rather than a rule: set a baseline when you join, keep your profile active, and review at three and six months. Look at the whole picture, including brand awareness and exposure, referrals and how often people mention finding you online, not just a count of enquiries.

If you’re also marketing elsewhere, ask new enquiries how they found you. That tells you far more than any single report.

Frequently asked questions

Is an NDIS provider directory worth the money?
It can be, if you treat it as a long-term visibility and credibility investment rather than a quick lead source. Compare the monthly cost with other channels and judge results over several months.

How long does it take to get enquiries from a directory listing?
It varies by provider, location and how active your profile is. Some providers hear from people sooner and others take months. We can’t promise a timeframe or a number of enquiries.

How much does a MySolas listing cost?
Plans start at $49/month + GST when billed annually, or $69/month + GST month to month. See the plans page for current pricing.

Do I have to be NDIS registered to list my business?
No. If the NDIA does not require you to be registered to deliver the services you provide, then it is not a requirement to be registered to list on MySolas. However, we highly recommend obtaining your NDIS registration.

What’s the difference between the plans?
All plans include a verified profile and an enquiry inbox. Higher plans add more service areas and listings, and MySolas Match referrals are only on Accelerate and Gamechanger.

Can I cancel my MySolas membership?
Month-to-month memberships can be changed or cancelled with seven days’ notice before your next billing period. Check the plan terms for annual memberships.
